Born and raised in Kentucky, I have always been captivated by the elegance and artistry of hats. Growing up in a state rich with horse racing tradition, my love for the sport and its iconic events, like the Kentucky Derby, inspired my deep connection to the culture and style of Kentucky. The beauty of the Derby hats, worn by fans and spectators, ignited my passion for designing headwear that blends tradition with modern flair.
As someone of Mexican and Persian descent, I am also deeply influenced by a mix of cultural heritage, which adds a unique perspective to my designs. This blend of influences fuels my creativity and enriches the details of my work. I am incredibly proud to be Kentuckian, and that pride continues to inspire my designs.
My love for fashion led me to study at Parsons School of Design, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), and the University of Kentucky. At the University of Kentucky, I focused my thesis on the history of Kentucky Derby fashion and hats, which deepened my appreciation for the rich tradition of headwear in the state. At FIT, I honed my craft in millinery, refining my skills in traditional techniques and the art of hat-making.
Throughout my 10-year career in the fashion industry, I’ve had the privilege of working with leading brands and collaborating with skilled milliners in both Kentucky and New York City. Specializing as an accessories designer, with a focus on designing hats and other statement pieces, I’ve developed a profound understanding of craftsmanship, materials, and timeless style. This experience has shaped my approach to design, allowing me to create pieces that reflect both creativity and attention to detail.
